Introduced: 1996, New York

BlackGold is a sweet cherry that is a cross between Stark Gold and Stella, developed by Cornell University in 1996. The glossy, heart-shaped fruit matures early to mid-season. It is deep red (almost black) firm, and juicy. Reliable and high yielding, we love both the flavor and productivity of this disease-resistant cherry.

Cherry Tree Notes:

Plant where trees will get sun for most of the day in a well drained soil. Dig a hole large enough to accommodate the roots, don’t add fertilizers or compost when filling the hole, save those for a top-dressing once the tree leafs out. Always protect your new trees with a “mouse guard” either a wrap from a garden center or a tube made from hardware cloth. This cherry tree is self-fertile.

PICK TREES THAT BLOOM AT THE SAME TIME FOR PROPER POLLINATION AND FRUITING!
