Osage Orange

Osage Orange

$20.00

The fruits of this tree, confusingly known as hedge apples, horse apples, Irish snowballs, or monkey brains, are the largest fruit of any tree native to North America. They are neither oranges nor apples, being more closely related to mulberries. Not many animals or humans eat these fruits, though squirrels sometimes eat the seeds inside. Their wood is flexible, incredibly strong, and resists decay. Prized for bow making, and also a great hedge row.

Instruction: It can be eaten fresh and also it can be cooked before consumption.
